I can't say enough great things about the 50mm. The 70-200 is, well, amazing to say the least. But sometimes it's too much zoom, especially close quarters like these types of events. The 50 is perfect for this kind of stuff. Nice and sharp, and gives the right amount of bokeh @ 1.8 to get rid of people in the background, other cars, etc and keep the subject razor sharp. Much more aesthetically pleasing imo. I love my canon prime lenses. I just picked up a 28mm 2.8 and can't wait to put it to use. When I start raking in the dough I'll have all L glass, but for now the primes are sharp enough for my liking.
